It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength
"Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength." - G.D. Anderson
ADEDAR is about the development of each of our players, boys, girls, men, women. We hold rugby clinics, coach workshops, tournaments, and trainings in the neighborhoods of Maputo. A couple weeks ago, we held a rugby clinic. This is a day for the players to come and learn more skills, going station to station to different coaches, with games at the end of the day. Stations include tackling, ruck, lineouts, scrums, ball handling, etc.
We are super-proud to say that after just 4 years in the making, the percentage of female participation in rugby in Mozambique with ADEDAR has gone from 5% to 43% at our last clinic! This is definitely something to shout about for us! So we are shouting! Forty-three percent!
We will continue to grow, continue to get those girls involved, empowered, and building confidence. We will keep educating both the girls and boys what gender equality is and why it's important, and we will continue to show the world the power of sport, of rugby, of the woman.
