When you work hard, good things happen

2019 has been a year for women in Mozambique and rugby. Back in April, a coach from Boland's Women's Rugby contacted me about bringing a team to Mozambique to play. Right away, I said YES! and got in contact with the Federation to make this possible. The girls had already been practicing once a week as a Mozambique team, but this made the seriousness step up a level. A South African team wants to come play us? South Africa? A place where rugby is literally in the blood???

So these girls stepped it up even more. Mozambique, we aren't big structured. We come small. Small and fiesty, though. But it also means we must be on it so much more. Rugby isn't always about who is the biggest. It's helpful, yes, but what's more important is technique and reading the field. We need to play smart, and we need to play with each other!

September 25, Boland's Women's Rugby is showing up in Maputo. We will play an U18 girls team in 15s, and a senior women's team in 7s (we are still working on our numbers of over 18 women). Thomas, the coach, also offered up holding a rugby clinic for our girls, to teach them more and help us grow even more. This is what we need more of. This is an opportunity for the girls to realize what they really can do as a team and what it takes to get to that level.

Wish our girls luck for September 25. A day in history for Mozambique rugby. A day many of us will never forget!
